Dynamic braking (DWDB) cabinet
Dynamic braking cabinet refers to the auxiliary equipment used to rapidly reduce motor running at a high speed to hand wheel control slow speed. Dynamic braking will automatically input and release so long as driller release foot switch about 3s. More than 20s can be saved if a drill stem is elevated. Excitation power, brakingcontactor and voltage-reducing relay, etc. are installed in the cabinet. Braking resistance: Kinetic energy ofmotor running at a high speed is converted into heat energy release so as to reach the purpose of rapidly reducing to DC motor’s rotational velocity.

Electromagnetic eddy current braking control cabin
Electromagnetic eddy current braking control cabinet is a new type auxiliary braking method, short for eddy current braking. It uses electromagnetic induction principle to perform non-wear braking with characteristics of large kinetic movement and long life and convenient operation and maintenance, etc. Application of eddy current braking can greatly reduce of wear of brake block, prolong use life of brake hub, and reduce labor strength of driller operator so that main brake is not used when operators drill down. Braking torque is adjusted through transformation of electromagnetic current so as to control downward speed of drill stem.

ROSS HILL SCR DC control module
DC control module refers to core components of rotational velocity and torque of space index DC motor. That is, it can control series motor and parallel motor, and output strong driving pulse to ensure rig123.net’ target=’_blank’>SCR is rapidly and reliably conductive to evenly distribute loads of the two sets of motor with same shaft and drive and load. Each driller function has independent current limit while current limit of rotary table can be adjusted sleeplessly. Current set features gradual increase, which can stably increase torque of motor. Speed controllers of all driller functions are is 15% of maximum current limit set with closing door threshold value of assigned contact interlocked with over-current of rotary table. Zero chain protection device is set to its assigned motor suddenly rotates at high speed and to prevent automatic inspection and control dynamic braking from inputting and exiting. Potentiometer of components can be adjusted manually to test output voltage of SCR bridge. Modules in each cabinet can be inter-replaceable.

ROSS HILL Skidding-proof circuit board
Main functions:
When two sets of series excitation motors is powered by one set of rig123.net’ target=’_blank’>SCR cabinet and parallelly drives the same load, one set or two sets of motors loses load and overspeed for chain wheel fault. Mud pump drive belongs to this situation. The function of chain wheel skidding-proof board is to supervise rotational velocity and load is normal or not. When rotational velocity and load ratios exceed threshold value, it is estimated that belt pulley will occur skidding incident. When continuous wheel skidding occurs, disconnect assigned contact and power supply of two sets of motors and galvanize chain wheel skidding light on the panel.

ROSS HILL Voltage feedback board
SCR cabinet outputs partial pressure ratio of 15:1 passed through DC positive and negative bus-bars and output voltage of analogue rectifier bridge, participate in speed adjustment, simultaneously, drives DC voltage meter.

ROSS HILL Solid state relay board
Four-digit solid state relay also refers to four-channel solid state relay board.
Main functions:
As for PLC control circuit and control contact circuit, perform photoelectric barrier to reach effect of independence of each other so as to ensure safety of control system.
Lead -14VDC that DC module generates into control circuit, load of DC module power is reduced in this respect. On the other hand, contract’s requirement for power at closing/opening is ensured in another respect. Fault rate of control circuit is reduced at the same time.

Re-engineered Solutions
Many Ross Hill and Hill Graham systems remain serviceable even though parts have become obsolete or unrepairable. Joton are able to provide alternative solutions by identifying and sourcing equivalents, or by providing complete re-engineered products.

We have designed our own digital version of Ross Hill’s AutoSync AC generator control module, which is not available from any other supplier anywhere else in the world. The Joton AutoSync module is fully digital and benefits from modern advances in manufacturing and control technologies.

The result of this is that ships and rigs which depend on these parts have a new lease of life – an incredible saving on the alternative solution, i.e. scrapping the existing generator control sections and completely re-fitting!

We are able to identify Ross Hill or Hill Graham parts from the original part number, and can provide exact equivalents where these are available. Where an exact replacement is not available, either due to limited supply or obsolescence, Joton can engineer an alternative or recommend a near equivalent.

This means that equipment manufactured up to 6 years ago is still fully supported by Joton, and can continue to provide a return on investment well beyond the normal life expectancy.
AC & DC Control Modules
Joton can provide you with exact replacements for your Hill Graham or Ross Hill systems. We have built a unique database of these specifications, and this, combined with the experience and expertise of our technicians (former employees of Hill Graham in the UK) enables us to re-engineer, and even improve on, the original specification. We believe we are the only company in the world able to provide replacement AutoSync modules for Ross Hill and Hill Graham systems. In order to improve on the original design, this product is fully digital, but is an exact replacement, occupying the same footprint and having the same pin configuration.
Printed Circuit Boards
Joton are today developing improved specification products as pin-for-pin replacements for legacy Ross Hill and Hill Graham technology. We can provide many of the printed circuit boards used on these systems, and even improve on some of the design features of the original product to improve reliability, robustness or functionality.
Thyristors, Diodes and Fuses
Advancements in technology mean that many of the power semiconductors which were built in SCR systems 6 years ago have been superseded by devices with better specifications. Specifying replacement or equivalent devices is a skilled task, but our engineers are able to ensure that, when the original component is not available, a suitable replacement can be found. If the replacement is not an exact fit we can engineer an adaptation to ensure continued serviceability of legacy equipment.
Repair and Calibration
Joton has designed and built a new type of AC and DC Module simulator, both provide a better testing platform for standard Ross Hill and Hill Graham type AC and DC modules. In particular, the AC module simulator provides a much improved engine control and start-up simulation.

These improvements have been made based on our experience with testing and repairing these modules over many years, and our customers can be confident that any module returned to us for repair has received the most comprehensive bench test possible.

In addition we are able to repair and re-calibrate most Ross Hill and Hill Graham printed circuit boards (PCBs), including Power Limit, Field Supply Regulator, Sprocket Slip, Drillers Console, DC Auxiliary, SCR Auxiliary and Generator Exciter PCBs.
